DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Warner University student-athletes cleaned up this week in Sun Conference Player of the Week honors as the Royals had three athletes recognized for their play last week announced Monday. Senior Derrell Henderson was selected as The Sun Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week, Becky Powell was selected as The Sun Conference softball Pitcher of the Week and senior Dan Smith was selected as The Sun Conference Player of the Week.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Warner University baseball team lost both games of their double header in walk-off fashion to NCAA-II Eckerd College on Saturday afternoon.  The Royals lost game one by a score of 12-11 and game two by a 9-8 score.  The losses drop the Royals to 2-4 on the season while the Tritons open their season 2-0.

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Warner University baseball team fell to cross-county rival and NCAA-II no. 2 Florida Southern College 16-4 on Tuesday night, Feb. 2.  The Royals saw their record fall to 2-2 on the year while the Mocs open their 2010 campaign 1-0 with the victory.

BABSON PARK, Fla. – The no. 20 Warner University baseball team split with rival Webber International University on Saturday afternoon as part of a non-conference doubleheader.  The Warriors took game one with a 1-0 victory and the Royals captured game two by an 8-7 final.  The split puts the Royals at 2-1 on the young season while the Warriors open their season at 1-1.

AVE MARIA, Fla. – For the second consecutive year, the #20 Warner University baseball team claimed their season opener as they defeated Ave Maria University 9-5 Tuesday (Jan. 26) at the Palmetto Ridge High School baseball field. The Royals open their season at 1-0 while the Gyrenes open their season at 0-1.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Sun Conference has announced the 2010 baseball All-Star Game roster for the exhibition being played Saturday, Jan. 23 in Sliwa Stadium on the campus of Embry-Riddle.  There will be 51 players from 11 Sun Conference teams featured in the game, including seven All-Conference performers from the 2009 season.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the second consecutive year and the third time in four years, the Warner University baseball team claimed a ranking in the NAIA Baseball Coaches’ Preseason Top 25 Poll as the Royals were ranked 20th in the 2010 edition announced by the NAIA today (Nov. 17). The Royals who finished with a 37-18 record and earned a berth to the National Tournament Opening Round last season earned 245 total points.

ORLANDO, Fla. – As the season of giving approaches the Warner University baseball team was out providing meals for the homeless in Orlando, Fla. Saturday, November 14.  The Warner baseball team teamed up with “Help for the Homeless” to assist in the passing out of over 150 meals to the homeless in Orlando.

Athletes of the Week
Men's Tennis
Akharis Sa-ardphanchai captures this week's  Player of the Week honor after winning Warner University's first ever #1 singles match on Sunday, February 7, against Webber International University.  His victory was the Royals' only one against the Warriors.

Head coach Jose Martinez had this to say about Sa-ardphanchai's performance, 
"Akharis played a tremendous match; he played with discipline and attacked at all the right moments.  This young man is special, he has solid mechanics and is not intimidated by anyone."
Baseball
Dan Smith tore up NCAA-II competition last week.  In three combined games against no. 2 Florida Southern College and Eckerd College, the All-Conference first basemen batted .600 with 2 homeruns, 3 doubles and 8 runs batted in.  

Against no. 2 Florida Southern College Smith led the Royals batting 3-3 with a double, a homerun and 3 RBIs.
