For the upcoming spring semester, Coach Shane Ward will move to more of a teaching role for the Warner Golf Program. Due to scheduling conflicts and a new teaching assignment, Coach Ward will take on more of a teaching role to assist the program. Daily operations as well as fund raising will be reassigned to Assistant Coach Bob Santee. These changes will begin immediately.

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Warner University men's golf team wrapped up their 2009 fall schedule with a 12th place finish at the Wilmington Island Club Intercollegiate hosted by Savannah College of Art and Design. The host team, SCAD, took home team first place honors with a three-round score of 853 (286, 276, 291) putting them at 1-over for the tournament. Loren Bunting, also from SCAD, was the top individual scorer posting a three round 208 (72, 65, 71) good enough for 5 under par.

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Warner University men’s golf team shot a combined 944 in the 2009 Saint Leo Invitational held on the South Course of Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club to finish in sixth place. Host Saint Leo University won the team championship by shooting a combined 901 while Nicolas Jutigny of University of Tampa claimed the top individual honors.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Warner University men’s golf team placed 11th at the Birmingham Southern College Fall Shootout. The Royals compiled a three round score of 940 (313-313-314). Huntington College took first place honors after posting an 893 (299-294-300) in team competition. Individually, Matt Hungerman of William Carey University captured top honors with a three round score of 218 (74-73-71).

LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Warner University men and women’s golf teams competed in the 16th Annual Webber Intercollegiate Golf Tournament over the weekend. The Royals had a good showing; with the women’s team finishing third while the men’s team finished eighth. Tournament host Webber International University captured first place honors in the women’s division shooting a 648 (320-328). Brevard Community College took first place in the men’s division shooting a two day 586 (291-295).

BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Warner University Golf Program wrapped up their season in The Sun Conference Championships hosted by Webber International University today, April 20. The men’s and women’s golf teams both finished with sixth place finishes after shooting 924 (311-301-312) and 832 (427-405) respectively. Northwood University won the men’s title while Embry-Riddle University won the women’s title.

In their first event of the spring season, the Warner University men’s and women’s golf team finished 10th and 8th respectively at the Start 2 Finish Webber Classic. The men’s team shot a combined team score of 617 (309-308) while the women shot 881 (448-443). Tournament host Webber International University won the men’s team competition while Mathieu Belanger of Canadian school Laval University won the individual event. In the women’s competition, Embry-Riddle University swept the competition, claiming the team and individual title as Tara Allen hoisted the individual trophy from the Eagles.

Men's Tennis
Akharis Sa-ardphanchai captures this week's Player of the Week honor after winning Warner University's first ever #1 singles match on Sunday, February 7, against Webber International University. His victory was the Royals' only one against the Warriors.
Head coach Jose Martinez had this to say about Sa-ardphanchai's performance,
"Akharis played a tremendous match; he played with discipline and attacked at all the right moments. This young man is special, he has solid mechanics and is not intimidated by anyone."

Baseball
Dan Smith tore up NCAA-II competition last week. In three combined games against no. 2 Florida Southern College and Eckerd College, the All-Conference first basemen batted .600 with 2 homeruns, 3 doubles and 8 runs batted in.
Against no. 2 Florida Southern College Smith led the Royals batting 3-3 with a double, a homerun and 3 RBIs.
