Royals Defeat Ave Maria Gyrenes
Jennifer Daun led the Royals with 12 kills and a .750 hitting percentage

AVE MARIA, Fla. – Sophomore Jennifer Daun posted her fifth double-digit kill match to help the Warner University women’s volleyball team defeat conference opponent Ave Maria University  3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-23) Saturday (Oct. 31) to improve their record to 14-11 (9-7 The Sun Conference) while the Gyrenes drop to 8-13 (6-11 The Sun Conference) for the season.

Daun led the Royals attack with 12 kills as she registered a season high .750 hitting percentage to lead the match.  She also anchored the Royals front line as she posted a team high three blocks.  Brittany Woods added to the Royals scoring with six kills while leading the team with four service aces and adding two blocks. Aysha Nickels dished 27 assists, averaging nine assists per set to lead the Royals.

Kristy Mentzer , Dayna Sechrest and Rachel Capra each totaled three digs to lead the Royals defensive efforts.

The Royals return home after a four-match road trip to host the 20th-ranked Madonna University Crusaders on Thursday (Nov. 5) in a 6 p.m. match.

Ethan  Lovell
Baseball

Ethan Lovell has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  Lovell helped the Royals baseball squad to a season opening split at Webber International University on Saturday (Jan. 28).  The Royals dropped the first game of the doubleheader 6-2 but rallied to take the second game 5-2.  Lovell got his senior season off on the right foot, batting 4-for-7 (.571) in both games.  The Lithia, Fla. native had a double and a triple while also scoring three runs.  Starting in centerfield for the Royals, Lovell recorded five put-outs as well.

Mark St. Fort
Men's Basketball

Mark St. Fort has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  St. Fort helped the No. 23 ranked men’s basketball team to a 1-1 week in The Sun Conference play.  Against No. 2 Northwood University, St. Fort scored nine points with six rebounds in a tough 82-58 loss to the Seahawks.  Then on Saturday night, St. Fort had a monster game against Florida Memorial University.  The Royals overcame a 43-38 halftime deficit defeating the Lions 82-74.  St. Fort’s second half performance helped lift the Royals’ offense; the Wauchula, Fla. native tallied 25 points in the second half.  The junior finished the game with 29 points and 12 rebounds to record the double-double.
