DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Sun Conference announced the 2009 All-Conference volleyball team at the conference tournament banquet at the Sunset Harbor Yacht Club on Thursday evening. The All-Conference roster was voted on by the league head coaches and featured 14 student-athletes representing five schools including Jenni Cook , representing Warner University. 

Cook, a freshman outside hitter, played in 25 matches for the Royals this season, leading the team in kills per set (2.61) and total kills (222). A two-time Warner Athlete of the Week, she led the team with 14 double-digit kill matches including posting a collegiate career high 16 kills in her first conference match of the season against cross-county rival Southeastern University.

The 2009 Sun Conference Tournament, presented by the Sunset Harbor Yacht Club and hosted by Embry-Riddle, gets underway at noon on Friday with the No. 5 seed Royals taking on No. 4 seed St. Thomas.  The winner of the match will play No. 1 seed Embry-Riddle at 5 p.m.

Athletes of the Week
Ethan  Lovell
Baseball

Ethan Lovell has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  Lovell helped the Royals baseball squad to a season opening split at Webber International University on Saturday (Jan. 28).  The Royals dropped the first game of the doubleheader 6-2 but rallied to take the second game 5-2.  Lovell got his senior season off on the right foot, batting 4-for-7 (.571) in both games.  The Lithia, Fla. native had a double and a triple while also scoring three runs.  Starting in centerfield for the Royals, Lovell recorded five put-outs as well.

Mark St. Fort
Men's Basketball

Mark St. Fort has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  St. Fort helped the No. 23 ranked men’s basketball team to a 1-1 week in The Sun Conference play.  Against No. 2 Northwood University, St. Fort scored nine points with six rebounds in a tough 82-58 loss to the Seahawks.  Then on Saturday night, St. Fort had a monster game against Florida Memorial University.  The Royals overcame a 43-38 halftime deficit defeating the Lions 82-74.  St. Fort’s second half performance helped lift the Royals’ offense; the Wauchula, Fla. native tallied 25 points in the second half.  The junior finished the game with 29 points and 12 rebounds to record the double-double.
