Warner Softball Adds Another Recruit for 2011 Season

LAKE WALES, Fla. – Warner University head softball coach Shawn Gary continues to blaze the recruiting trail, signing his third recruit this fall.  His latest addition to the 2010-2011 Royals softball program is Lindsey Martin of Bartow, Fla.

Martin is a senior at perennial softball power Bartow High School led by head coach Glen Rutenbar.  Following the 2009 season Martin was tabbed as an All County Honorable Mention pitcher.  She also plays with the Bartow Intimidators travel softball team.

The daughter of Eddie and Lauri Martin, Lindsey is a 4.0 student and a member of the National Honor Society as well as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Mark St. Fort
Men's Basketball

Mark St. Fort has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  St. Fort helped the No. 23 ranked men’s basketball team to a 1-1 week in The Sun Conference play.  Against No. 2 Northwood University, St. Fort scored nine points with six rebounds in a tough 82-58 loss to the Seahawks.  Then on Saturday night, St. Fort had a monster game against Florida Memorial University.  The Royals overcame a 43-38 halftime deficit defeating the Lions 82-74.  St. Fort’s second half performance helped lift the Royals’ offense; the Wauchula, Fla. native tallied 25 points in the second half.  The junior finished the game with 29 points and 12 rebounds to record the double-double.

Ethan  Lovell
Baseball

Ethan Lovell has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  Lovell helped the Royals baseball squad to a season opening split at Webber International University on Saturday (Jan. 28).  The Royals dropped the first game of the doubleheader 6-2 but rallied to take the second game 5-2.  Lovell got his senior season off on the right foot, batting 4-for-7 (.571) in both games.  The Lithia, Fla. native had a double and a triple while also scoring three runs.  Starting in centerfield for the Royals, Lovell recorded five put-outs as well.
