VANCOUVER, Wash. – The Warner University women’s cross country 2009 season has officially come to a close as All-Conference runner Tranese Boston represented Warner in the NAIA 30th Annual Women’s National Championships today (Nov. 21) held at the Fort Vancouver Historical Site.

Boston, one of the most successful runners in Warner history ran in her third consecutive National Championships.  The Miami, Fla. native finished the 5k race with a time of 23:09, keeping a pace of 7:27 per mile to complete the race.  Justyna Mudy of Shorter College won the individual competition as she clocked a time of 17:30 while California State University-San Marcos won the team competition with a total time of 1:35:00

Athletes of the Week
Ethan  Lovell
Baseball

Ethan Lovell has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  Lovell helped the Royals baseball squad to a season opening split at Webber International University on Saturday (Jan. 28).  The Royals dropped the first game of the doubleheader 6-2 but rallied to take the second game 5-2.  Lovell got his senior season off on the right foot, batting 4-for-7 (.571) in both games.  The Lithia, Fla. native had a double and a triple while also scoring three runs.  Starting in centerfield for the Royals, Lovell recorded five put-outs as well.

Mark St. Fort
Men's Basketball

Mark St. Fort has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  St. Fort helped the No. 23 ranked men’s basketball team to a 1-1 week in The Sun Conference play.  Against No. 2 Northwood University, St. Fort scored nine points with six rebounds in a tough 82-58 loss to the Seahawks.  Then on Saturday night, St. Fort had a monster game against Florida Memorial University.  The Royals overcame a 43-38 halftime deficit defeating the Lions 82-74.  St. Fort’s second half performance helped lift the Royals’ offense; the Wauchula, Fla. native tallied 25 points in the second half.  The junior finished the game with 29 points and 12 rebounds to record the double-double.
