DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Sun Conference office announced the 2009 men’s soccer All-Conference teams, as well as individual award winners on Wednesday (Nov. 4) and the Warner University men’s soccer team placed four on the list.

Senior midfielder Mauricio Castano was named to the first team All-Conference team while senior defender Arturo De la Fuente , junior defender Reginald Francois and junior forward Marc Jeanty were named to the second team. The four have led the Royals to a second consecutive double-digit win season as the Royals posted a 10-5-1 overall record with a 6-2-1 conference mark and will be playing in the Sun Conference Tournament for the second straight year this weekend.

Castano, a native of Bogota, Colombia is the Royals second leading scorer with 17 points on seven goals and three assists. Three of his seven goals were game winning goals including the game winning goal against St. Thomas University in the last conference match of the season to solidify the Royals spot in the postseason.  Castano has been a staple on the Sun Conference All-Conference Honor Roll as this is his second consecutive season earning first team All-Conference honors and third consecutive season overall as he was named to the second team his sophomore year.

De la Fuente, a native of Margarita, Venezula helped anchor a defense that allowed only 18 goals for the season, third best in the conference.  He was not limited to only defense, as De la Fuente scored his second career goal this season.

Francois, a Miami, Fla. native also was a defensive stalwart for the Royals as he too anchored a defense that protected the goalie well, helping the Royals register seven shutouts for the season and to remain undefeated at home. Francois too posed as a dual threat for the Royals as he also posted four points this season on a goal and two assists.

Jeanty, a Lake Worth, Fla. native is the Royals leading scorer with 23 points on nine goals and five assists. His scoring prowess led the Royals to one of their best offensive seasons with a team average 2.6 goals and a team total of 41 goals, 31st and 39th best in the country respectively.

The Royals will travel to Hardeeville, S.C. this weekend as the third seed in the Sun Conference Tournament to faceoff with two-seed Savannah College of Art & Design in a 3 p.m. showdown.
