LAKE WALES, Fla. – One day after locking up their first winning season in school history, the Warner University women’s volleyball team fell to St. Thomas University 3-1 (25-17, 25-20, 20-25, 25-13).  With the loss the Royals end the regular season with a 15-13 mark (10-7 The Sun Conference).  St. Thomas improves to 11-8 (10-7 The Sun Conference).

Precious Reese led the Royals offensive attack posting 10 kills while Brittany Woods chipped in 7 kills along with a game high five solo blocks. Ashley Even set the pace with 22 assists.

Charmaine Kehoe, Rachael Capra and Brandi Jarmon all got in on the defensive action with six digs apiece. 

For the Bobcats, Slavica Stefanovic and Nicole Barraza provided enormous output for the offense with 16 and 13 kills respectively.

The Royals next action will come in the Sun Conference Tournament hosted by Embry Riddle University.  They will take on St. Thomas University next Friday, November 13, at 12 p.m.

Athletes of the Week
Ethan  Lovell
Baseball

Ethan Lovell has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  Lovell helped the Royals baseball squad to a season opening split at Webber International University on Saturday (Jan. 28).  The Royals dropped the first game of the doubleheader 6-2 but rallied to take the second game 5-2.  Lovell got his senior season off on the right foot, batting 4-for-7 (.571) in both games.  The Lithia, Fla. native had a double and a triple while also scoring three runs.  Starting in centerfield for the Royals, Lovell recorded five put-outs as well.

Mark St. Fort
Men's Basketball

Mark St. Fort has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  St. Fort helped the No. 23 ranked men’s basketball team to a 1-1 week in The Sun Conference play.  Against No. 2 Northwood University, St. Fort scored nine points with six rebounds in a tough 82-58 loss to the Seahawks.  Then on Saturday night, St. Fort had a monster game against Florida Memorial University.  The Royals overcame a 43-38 halftime deficit defeating the Lions 82-74.  St. Fort’s second half performance helped lift the Royals’ offense; the Wauchula, Fla. native tallied 25 points in the second half.  The junior finished the game with 29 points and 12 rebounds to record the double-double.
