BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Warner University Golf Program wrapped up their season in The Sun Conference Championships hosted by Webber International University today, April 20.  The men’s and women’s golf teams both finished with sixth place finishes after shooting 924 (311-301-312) and 832 (427-405) respectively.
Northwood University won the men’s title while Embry-Riddle University won the women’s title.

Freshman Ian Ross paced the men’s team by carding a 228 to tie for a 16th place finish in the individual event.  Ross opened the three-round Championship by shooting a 79 in the first round and progressively shot better in the pursuing rounds.  He shaved off two strokes in the second round, recording a 77 and closed out play with a score of 75 in the final round.  Matthew Alwin (76-78-78), Preston Knox (79-76-77) and Ian Allen (77-70-85) each finished with a score of 232 to tie for a 24th place finish. 

On the women’s team, Katie Learn shot a 173 to lead the Royals and finish 21st in the individual event. Learn carded an 89 in the first round of play and shaved five strokes off her score to shoot an 84 in the final round.  Ashley Miller followed with a score of 187 for a 26th place finish.  Miller also showed improvement over the course of the tournament as she shot a 96 in the opening round and also trimmed five strokes off her score to shoot a 91 in the second round. Samantha Whitmore shot a 209 (106-103) for a 28th place finish and Shelby Jackson rounded out the Royals scorers shooting a 263. Jackson improved on her first round score of 136 by trimming her score by 11 strokes to close out the tournament with a score of 127.
