LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Warner University men’s basketball team has landed yet another prize recruit in the signing of K.R. Eanes of Pomona Heights, N.Y.
Eanes, a 6’0 guard, joins Warner from the legendary Mount Zion Christian Academy in Durham, North Carolina where as a two-year captain and the starting point guard he led the team to a state title and a top 10 national rankings. While at Mount Zion, he averaged 21.6 ppg, 13.8 apg (a state record), 6.7 rpg, 2.1 spg and 1.1 bpg on his way to earning First Team All-Freelance Conference honors. Eanes, the Conference Player of the Year runner-up, was also the Oakley Award Winner and a nominee for the prestigious McDonald’s All-American honors.
Eanes, who earned several NCAA Division I mid-major offers, also played on AAU club teams CP3 All-Stars and the New York Gauchos.
“The general atmosphere and ambiance of Warner is amazing to me,” answered Eanes when asked why he chose Warner. “Coach Hanrahan is a man of great knowledge when it comes to the game of basketball, and shows a great concern for a player’s well-being off the court. Also, Coach Arey is a very important and strong additive piece of the Warner Basketball program and I feel I will learn a lot from him these next few years of my life on and off the court,” continued Eanes.
Eanes’ dazzling skills were not limited to the basketball court as he displayed an amazing ability to help people, earning him the Tracy McGrady Christian’s in the Community Award while at Mount Zion. “I feel at Warner I can grow as a leader, a person, a student-athlete and most importantly a Christian. To me this is a calling and I will take what is given to me and use the opportunities at hand to better myself as well as my future,” Eanes closed.
Eanes is the son of Doreen Ramirez and Thomas Boyd and has two younger siblings, Alexander and Olivia. He also has a mentor within his older cousin O.J. Mayo of the Memphis Grizzlies.
