Royals Defeat Caribs in Straight Sets
The Royals are now 2-0 on the season.

LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Warner University men’s volleyball team kept the momentum rolling from last night’s victory as they put down College of the Bahamas for the second straight day 3-0, (30-15, 30-21, 30-20).  The win moves the Royals to 2-0 on the young season and the loss drop the Caribs to 0-2.

As they did last night the Royals held the upper hand throughout the match never trailing in any of the three sets.  Nick Brutus continued to have the hot hand for the Royals' offensive attack totaling 11 kills.  The other Royal with double digit kills was Robert Schramm who added 10 in the winning effort.  Adrian Kibsey orchestrated the Royals’ attack with 37 assists to go along with his four service aces.

Defensively, Brutus and Schramm were a presence as well.  Brutus led the way with a game high eight digs while Schramm posted two block assists.

The Royals will close out the three game set against College of the Bahamas tomorrow (Jan. 16) in a 5 p.m. matchup in the Turner Athletic Center.

Ethan  Lovell
Baseball

Ethan Lovell has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  Lovell helped the Royals baseball squad to a season opening split at Webber International University on Saturday (Jan. 28).  The Royals dropped the first game of the doubleheader 6-2 but rallied to take the second game 5-2.  Lovell got his senior season off on the right foot, batting 4-for-7 (.571) in both games.  The Lithia, Fla. native had a double and a triple while also scoring three runs.  Starting in centerfield for the Royals, Lovell recorded five put-outs as well.

Mark St. Fort
Men's Basketball

Mark St. Fort has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  St. Fort helped the No. 23 ranked men’s basketball team to a 1-1 week in The Sun Conference play.  Against No. 2 Northwood University, St. Fort scored nine points with six rebounds in a tough 82-58 loss to the Seahawks.  Then on Saturday night, St. Fort had a monster game against Florida Memorial University.  The Royals overcame a 43-38 halftime deficit defeating the Lions 82-74.  St. Fort’s second half performance helped lift the Royals’ offense; the Wauchula, Fla. native tallied 25 points in the second half.  The junior finished the game with 29 points and 12 rebounds to record the double-double.
