Men's Soccer Works with Lake Wales YMCA

LAKE WALES, Fla. - The Warner Men’s Soccer team has met, face-to-face, some of the toughest competitors The Sun Conference has to offer; but, none of that compared to driving out to the local YMCA to take on second through sixth graders for a couple of hours of soccer fun this past Thursday (Jan. 14).
Members of the men’s soccer team taught dribbling, passing, receiving, finishing, and just playing the game to the kids with a have-fun mentality. Perhaps the highlight of the day was when the group played Rookies in the Middle. Freshmen Jaimito “Catch Me” Benito had this to say, “the way those kids found the necessary skills to fire the balls at the new Warner soccer players in the middle all at the same time was testimony to the way we coached them that day.”
Needless to say, visits to the Athletic Trainer took place immediately after the service day thereby putting a handful of players on the injured reserve list—those kids are ruthless! Although the men’s soccer program went out to provide some community service to others, in reflection, one has to wonder who taught the other the most. Thanks to all the participants of the Lake Wales YMCA!
