Final Results

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Warner University track and field team closed out their indoor season Saturday at the 2010 NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships in the MSHA/ETSU Athletic Center on the campus of East Tennessee State University.

Two-time Sun Conference Field Athlete of the Year Nicole Pope was the first for the Royals to compete Saturday afternoon, participating in the Shot Put. Pope, coming in seeded 18th out of 29 competitors, finished with a distance of 12.85m for sixth place in her flight and to finish 16th overall.

Rashad Ward , participating in his first National Championships competed in the Shot Put and threw for 12.85m.

Josh Wood competed in the 600M Run Friday afternoon and clocked in at 1:22.67 for a fourth place finish in his heat and 16th overall.  

The Royals return to competition Saturday, March 20 when they travel to Orlando, Fla. for the World Disney Invitational.

Mark St. Fort
Men's Basketball

Mark St. Fort has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  St. Fort helped the No. 23 ranked men’s basketball team to a 1-1 week in The Sun Conference play.  Against No. 2 Northwood University, St. Fort scored nine points with six rebounds in a tough 82-58 loss to the Seahawks.  Then on Saturday night, St. Fort had a monster game against Florida Memorial University.  The Royals overcame a 43-38 halftime deficit defeating the Lions 82-74.  St. Fort’s second half performance helped lift the Royals’ offense; the Wauchula, Fla. native tallied 25 points in the second half.  The junior finished the game with 29 points and 12 rebounds to record the double-double.

Ethan  Lovell
Baseball

Ethan Lovell has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  Lovell helped the Royals baseball squad to a season opening split at Webber International University on Saturday (Jan. 28).  The Royals dropped the first game of the doubleheader 6-2 but rallied to take the second game 5-2.  Lovell got his senior season off on the right foot, batting 4-for-7 (.571) in both games.  The Lithia, Fla. native had a double and a triple while also scoring three runs.  Starting in centerfield for the Royals, Lovell recorded five put-outs as well.
