Kevin Sokal Helps Royals Win Two Games

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Warner University men’s tennis team took a break from conference action to take on University of St. Francis (Ill.) Saturday afternoon in Orlando, Fla. The Royals who were defeated 7-2 received strong play from Kevin Sokal who was involved in the Royals (0-5) two wins.

Warner was able to grab a doubles win over the 6-1 Fighting Saints when Sokal teamed with Francisco del Castillo to defeat the team of Erick Dobrzynski and Andres Stecher 8-3. Sokal carried the momentum from his doubles win into his singles match where he defeated Nikola Milenkovic 6-0, 6-4.

The Royals will return to Orlando, Fla. on Tuesday March 16 when they face-off with Hastings College (Neb.) in a 6:30 p.m. match.

Ethan  Lovell
Baseball

Ethan Lovell has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  Lovell helped the Royals baseball squad to a season opening split at Webber International University on Saturday (Jan. 28).  The Royals dropped the first game of the doubleheader 6-2 but rallied to take the second game 5-2.  Lovell got his senior season off on the right foot, batting 4-for-7 (.571) in both games.  The Lithia, Fla. native had a double and a triple while also scoring three runs.  Starting in centerfield for the Royals, Lovell recorded five put-outs as well.

Mark St. Fort
Men's Basketball

Mark St. Fort has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  St. Fort helped the No. 23 ranked men’s basketball team to a 1-1 week in The Sun Conference play.  Against No. 2 Northwood University, St. Fort scored nine points with six rebounds in a tough 82-58 loss to the Seahawks.  Then on Saturday night, St. Fort had a monster game against Florida Memorial University.  The Royals overcame a 43-38 halftime deficit defeating the Lions 82-74.  St. Fort’s second half performance helped lift the Royals’ offense; the Wauchula, Fla. native tallied 25 points in the second half.  The junior finished the game with 29 points and 12 rebounds to record the double-double.
