LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Warner University women’s basketball team is proud to announce the addition of Shawnelle Campbell of Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, Ore. and Kiara Reeves of Harfod Community College in Aberdeen, Md.

Campbell, a 5’6 guard from Portland, Ore. joins the Royals with a proven track record as a winner; she boasts an 85-28 record as a starting point guard over the previous four seasons, including a recent 21-8 season as a sophomore. Most recently she was a two-year starter at point guard for Mt. Hood where she averaged 11.4 ppg, 4 apg, and 3 spg while shooting 41% from the field, 31% from behind the arc and 73% from the charity stripe.

Prior to attending Mt. Hood, Campbell was also a two-year starter at Reynolds High School in Portland, Ore. where she earned All-Conference honors after leading her team to a 21-5 overall record and 13-5 conference mark her senior year and a 24-3 (13-2) finish her junior year.

Reeves, a 5’9 forward out of Aberdeen, Md. averaged a double-double throughout her career at Harford. During her sophomore year, she poured in 11.6 ppg while grabbing 12.0 rpg and as a freshman; she led the team with 11.5 ppg and 10.3 rpg, earning her All-Conference honors as a freshman.

“I am pleased that Shawnelle and Kiara have chosen Warner University to continue their education.  Shawnelle is a proven winner at both the high school and collegiate levels and has the ability to contribute immediately at the critical point guard position. Kiara is a versatile player who can score in the post as well as the perimeter. Her rebounding skills will help us to continue our strong presence on the boards,” said head coach Matt Murphy.

As a team the Royals averaged 40.9 rpg and finished second in The Sun Conference in rebounds per game, including outrebounded their opponents by 4.7 rpg, ranking them 24th in NAIA-II.

“Advancing to the conference final four was a nice step in our first season. Both Shawnelle and Kiara will be an integral part in helping us to build upon that,” stated Murphy. The Royals finished the season with a 12-18(5-9 The Sun Conference) record after advancing to the conference final four for the first time in five years. The 12 wins were the most for a Royals team since the 06-07 season and the five conference wins was the most conference wins since the 04-05 season.
