Amber Smith Joins Warner Soccer Family

LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Warner University women’s soccer coaching staff is proud to announce the signing of Amber Smith of Altamonte Springs, Fla.

Smith, a defender, joins Warner from Lake Brantley High School, where she was a four-year starter. She earned several honors over her interscholastic career including being named the Most Improved Player her sophomore year. Smith went on to earn back-to-back Second Team All-Conference honors and was named Most Valuable Defensive Player her junior and senior year. She also was named team captain and the team’s most valuable player her senior season.

Smith also played with Deltona Youth Soccer Club and has 13 years of playing soccer under her belt.

Men's Basketball

Mark St. Fort has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  St. Fort helped the No. 23 ranked men’s basketball team to a 1-1 week in The Sun Conference play.  Against No. 2 Northwood University, St. Fort scored nine points with six rebounds in a tough 82-58 loss to the Seahawks.  Then on Saturday night, St. Fort had a monster game against Florida Memorial University.  The Royals overcame a 43-38 halftime deficit defeating the Lions 82-74.  St. Fort’s second half performance helped lift the Royals’ offense; the Wauchula, Fla. native tallied 25 points in the second half.  The junior finished the game with 29 points and 12 rebounds to record the double-double.

Ethan Lovell has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  Lovell helped the Royals baseball squad to a season opening split at Webber International University on Saturday (Jan. 28).  The Royals dropped the first game of the doubleheader 6-2 but rallied to take the second game 5-2.  Lovell got his senior season off on the right foot, batting 4-for-7 (.571) in both games.  The Lithia, Fla. native had a double and a triple while also scoring three runs.  Starting in centerfield for the Royals, Lovell recorded five put-outs as well.
