Women's Soccer Participated in Lake Wales First Soccer Community Day

LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Warner University women’s soccer team recently took part in the First Soccer Community Day held at the Lake Wales Soccer Complex. The Warner coaching staff along with former, present and incoming players conducted a soccer clinic for the U-11 and U-14 competitive girl’s teams.

“This was an opportunity to reach the community and create a bond with upcoming stars in Lake Wales Soccer Club," said head coach Nelson Ramirez. "It was a great experience for us to have our Warner girls to interact with the local girls to give them an inspiration to play at the next level," said assistant coach Heriberto Aguilar.

Men's Basketball

Mark St. Fort has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  St. Fort helped the No. 23 ranked men’s basketball team to a 1-1 week in The Sun Conference play.  Against No. 2 Northwood University, St. Fort scored nine points with six rebounds in a tough 82-58 loss to the Seahawks.  Then on Saturday night, St. Fort had a monster game against Florida Memorial University.  The Royals overcame a 43-38 halftime deficit defeating the Lions 82-74.  St. Fort’s second half performance helped lift the Royals’ offense; the Wauchula, Fla. native tallied 25 points in the second half.  The junior finished the game with 29 points and 12 rebounds to record the double-double.

Ethan Lovell has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  Lovell helped the Royals baseball squad to a season opening split at Webber International University on Saturday (Jan. 28).  The Royals dropped the first game of the doubleheader 6-2 but rallied to take the second game 5-2.  Lovell got his senior season off on the right foot, batting 4-for-7 (.571) in both games.  The Lithia, Fla. native had a double and a triple while also scoring three runs.  Starting in centerfield for the Royals, Lovell recorded five put-outs as well.
