Warner University Places 47 on 2009-10 The Sun Conference Academic All-Conference Teams

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Sun Conference has announced its 2009-10 Academic All-Conference honorees and Warner University placed 47 student-athletes on their respective Academic All-Conference teams. The conference recognized student-athletes who represent all 12 The Sun Conference institutions.

Student-athletes must have been enrolled for two full semesters or more with a minimum cumulative 3.4 GPA to qualify for the honor.

Warner’s women’s soccer and volleyball teams placed a conference-high 13 and eight student-athletes respectively to lead the pack while the softball and women’s basketball teams recorded six and three student-athletes to tie for the most student-athletes to earn the recognition.

Mark St. Fort
Men's Basketball

Mark St. Fort has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  St. Fort helped the No. 23 ranked men’s basketball team to a 1-1 week in The Sun Conference play.  Against No. 2 Northwood University, St. Fort scored nine points with six rebounds in a tough 82-58 loss to the Seahawks.  Then on Saturday night, St. Fort had a monster game against Florida Memorial University.  The Royals overcame a 43-38 halftime deficit defeating the Lions 82-74.  St. Fort’s second half performance helped lift the Royals’ offense; the Wauchula, Fla. native tallied 25 points in the second half.  The junior finished the game with 29 points and 12 rebounds to record the double-double.

Ethan  Lovell
Baseball

Ethan Lovell has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  Lovell helped the Royals baseball squad to a season opening split at Webber International University on Saturday (Jan. 28).  The Royals dropped the first game of the doubleheader 6-2 but rallied to take the second game 5-2.  Lovell got his senior season off on the right foot, batting 4-for-7 (.571) in both games.  The Lithia, Fla. native had a double and a triple while also scoring three runs.  Starting in centerfield for the Royals, Lovell recorded five put-outs as well.
