Warner Mourns the Passing of Women's Soccer Student-Athlete Cassandra Hill

LAKE WALES, Fla. – Viewing and Funeral services for Warner student-athlete Cassandra Hill have been set with the viewing taking place today, Tuesday July 6, 5 p.m.- 8 p.m., followed by the funeral Wednesday, July 7 at 11 a.m. Services will be held at Calvary Assembly of God in Dade City, Fla.

Hill, 20, went home to be with the Lord Friday July 2. She was a two-year letterwinner on the Royals women’s soccer team. The 5’4 midfielder played in 24 games over her career including 15 starts as a true freshman during the 2008 season and totaled five points in her career (1 goal and 2 assists).

Hill, a Dade City, Fla. will truly be missed for her strong leadership and Christian example. Here is a quick slide show of a few action shots of Hill.

Athletes of the Week
Mark St. Fort
Men's Basketball

Mark St. Fort has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  St. Fort helped the No. 23 ranked men’s basketball team to a 1-1 week in The Sun Conference play.  Against No. 2 Northwood University, St. Fort scored nine points with six rebounds in a tough 82-58 loss to the Seahawks.  Then on Saturday night, St. Fort had a monster game against Florida Memorial University.  The Royals overcame a 43-38 halftime deficit defeating the Lions 82-74.  St. Fort’s second half performance helped lift the Royals’ offense; the Wauchula, Fla. native tallied 25 points in the second half.  The junior finished the game with 29 points and 12 rebounds to record the double-double.

Ethan  Lovell
Baseball

Ethan Lovell has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  Lovell helped the Royals baseball squad to a season opening split at Webber International University on Saturday (Jan. 28).  The Royals dropped the first game of the doubleheader 6-2 but rallied to take the second game 5-2.  Lovell got his senior season off on the right foot, batting 4-for-7 (.571) in both games.  The Lithia, Fla. native had a double and a triple while also scoring three runs.  Starting in centerfield for the Royals, Lovell recorded five put-outs as well.
