LAKE WALES, Fla. – Warner University men’s soccer head coach Kurt Bienias is proud to announce the designation of Fabio Tamayo as head assistant coach for the upcoming 2010 season. Tamayo is entering his third season as an assistant coach for the Royals.

Tamayo, a native of Bogota, Colombia joined the Warner family in 2007 where he played right back for a squad that earned a Top 25 national ranking before transitioning to assistant coach in January 2008. Prior to joining the Royals, he attended Colegio Presentacion Centro in Bogota and played his club soccer with Millonarios.

Along with on-field coaching, Tamayo assists Bienias in recruiting and conditioning and now will oversee all the assistant coaches. “He’s a very loyal coach and one that has a solid long-range future head coaching his own collegiate program someday should he desire to go that route,” said Bienias.

The sports management major recently wrapped up a summer internship with the MLS Kansas City Wizards where he assisted the team president in a myriad of tasks including financial reports, marketing strategies, scouting, sponsorships and membership. He has also worked soccer camps at the University of Florida and University of Central Florida.

In conjunction with his coaching responsibilities, Tamayo will finish his undergraduate studies this semester and graduate in December.
