TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. – The Warner University women’s volleyball team dropped its road match Tuesday night, falling 3-1 (27-29, 23-25, 25-18, 24-26) to the reigning United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Champions Florida College.

Joelle Warring led the Roays with 11 kills while All-Conference outside hitter Jenni Cook added 10 of her own. Cook also contributed four digs and two blocks. Brittany Woods was the most efficient hitter for the Royals, hitting .318 with nine kills. Kimberlee Thomas also added to the Royals attack with seven kills to go along with seven service aces.

Junior setter Aysha Nickels posted a double-double, tallying 37 assists and 15 digs while adding four kills. Libero Samantha Schild led the Royals defensive front with 30 digs.

The Royals have a seven-day layoff from competition before they return to action Tuesday, Sept. 7 to face NCAA-II Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla.

Ethan  Lovell
Baseball

Ethan Lovell has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  Lovell helped the Royals baseball squad to a season opening split at Webber International University on Saturday (Jan. 28).  The Royals dropped the first game of the doubleheader 6-2 but rallied to take the second game 5-2.  Lovell got his senior season off on the right foot, batting 4-for-7 (.571) in both games.  The Lithia, Fla. native had a double and a triple while also scoring three runs.  Starting in centerfield for the Royals, Lovell recorded five put-outs as well.

Mark St. Fort
Men's Basketball

Mark St. Fort has been named the Warner University Athlete of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29.  St. Fort helped the No. 23 ranked men’s basketball team to a 1-1 week in The Sun Conference play.  Against No. 2 Northwood University, St. Fort scored nine points with six rebounds in a tough 82-58 loss to the Seahawks.  Then on Saturday night, St. Fort had a monster game against Florida Memorial University.  The Royals overcame a 43-38 halftime deficit defeating the Lions 82-74.  St. Fort’s second half performance helped lift the Royals’ offense; the Wauchula, Fla. native tallied 25 points in the second half.  The junior finished the game with 29 points and 12 rebounds to record the double-double.
